Child Dedication Request Form
Child Dedication at CCO
Congratulations on your decision to dedicate your child! This meaningful milestone follows the Biblical example of Joseph and Mary dedicating Jesus at the temple. By dedicating your child, you commit to raising them in a godly environment, teaching them about God’s love and guiding them toward accepting Jesus as their Savior when they are ready.
Dedications differ from baby baptisms because in a baptism the child is considered to be saved, but this is not a biblical pattern. Salvation comes when one can understand and accept Jesus as their Savior and is committed to walking in obedience. The request for a dedication is you, as parents, professing to provide a biblical home environment for your child so that when he or she comes to the age of understanding, he/she will accept Jesus as their Savior.
Our Beliefs About Child Dedication
- Child dedication is a commitment to disciple-making, not just a one-time event.
- It’s a vow of accountability before God and the church, similar to a marriage covenant.
- Parents present as a united front, committing to raise their child as disciples of Christ.
- We believe parenting is primary, and dedication goes beyond a simple prayer.
- We support single parents and encourage building healthy relationships in families.
- We aim to honor Biblical marriage and family relationships between the mother & father while offering private dedications if needed to address unique circumstances.
For questions or to schedule a dedication, please fill out our Child Dedication Request Form. Please note that child dedications are reserved for members of Calvary Chapel Oceanside. If you have any further questions about dedicating your child, please call the church office to discuss with one of our CCO pastors.
